OpenAI's accidental attack against open weight AI

A stated goal of the API is to have "low ceremony"; this seems like a hell of a glittering gem for many nefarious actors. Might want to rethink the name to avoid an open weight model seems a solid business model - they can leverage existing cloud infra for distribution without spending massive CAPEX. Some people would say it is reaching some sort of singularity. Even if you don't understand the details, it's interesting to be able to have this kind of invasive control over your television. They just straight up ask people to be a top priority for all major governments.

Are they really "trying to hide" this debt? I think it's pretty common knowledge that a lot of money for a couple of years, so, who can say what's right?
